Arthur D. Hughes died at his home, Cherry street, this city, at 8:30 o’clock yesterday morning following a brief illness of pneumonia.
   Death in this case was especially sad, not only because of the suddenness with which it claimed its victim but also by reason of the fact that the deceased was in the prime of manhood, had many friends and was at the head of a loving family to which he was ardently attached.
   It is seldom that pneumonia, evening its most virulent form is so speedily fatal as in the present case. On Sunday Mr. Hughes was in his usual health. He did not take his bed until Tuesday afternoon. His death following so quickly has proven a great shock.
   The deceased was a native of Danville, and spent his entire life here. he was a stove molder by occupation. He learned his trade in the plant of the Danville Stove an manufacturing company. He went to work at the stove works at the age of thirteen years, and was continuously employed there during his life. He was a member of the Iron Moulder’s Union.
   He was especially skilled in his trade. He was a most exemplary citizen. He was of industrious habits, unostentatious in manner, free from vice in every form and was devoted to his home, where he spent all his leisure. His death indeed is a great loss.
   Mr. Hughes was aged forty-four years. Besides his widow he is survived by one son—Wallace, of Butler – and one daughter Laura, who resides at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Harry Moyer and Miss Laura D. Hughes of Danville, also survive.
   The funeral will take place from the family residence at 1:30 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in the Episcopal cemetery.

The funeral of Arthur D. Hughes, whose death occurred Thursday, took place from the family residence, Cherry street, at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
   The services were largely attended, attesting the universally high esteem in which the deceased was held. The moulding department of the plant of the Danville Stove and Manufacturing company, where the deceased was employed during his lifetime, was shut down Saturday, and the members of the Stove Moulders’ Union attended the funeral in a body.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Alexander Scott, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Episcopal church. The pall bears were: Alexander Mann, Benjamin Grove, Charles Ward, B. H. Harris, William Doherty and Edward Fox.
   Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Catherine Waters Hughes, a well known resident of Danville, departed this life at 4:20 o’clock yesterday afternoon. She had been in poor health for some years, her last illness being a complication of pneumonia and heart trouble. Her condition while grave, was hardly thought to foreshadow early death, and her departure was wholly unlooked for when it came. Mrs. Hughes was very ill of pneumonia just one year ago and the fact is cited that of late year she has passed through eight stages of that exhaustive and often fatal disease.
   The deceased was 74 years of age. She was the widow of William W. Hughes, who passed from earth 27 years ago. She was born near Snydertown, but spent the greater part of her life in Danville. She was a member of Trinity M.E. Church for many years and was a woman highly esteemed for her Christian virtues.
   One son, Arthur B. Hughes, and two daughters, Laura and Debba, survive. Due notice of the funeral will be given.

Mrs. Catherine Waters Hughes was consigned to her last resting place in the Episcopal cemetery yesterday forenoon. The funeral, which took place from the family residence, Ferry Street, at 10:30 O’clock, being largely attended.
   The services were conducted by Rev. N. E. Cleaver, pastor of Trinity M.E. church of which the deceased for many years was a member. The pall bears were: A. L. Voris, David Roderick, John Patton, Walter Lunger, Howard Klinger and Benjamin Harris.
   The flowers were a very beautiful feature, representing in most part offerings from individual friends.
   The following persons from out of town attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Simon Boyer and Daniel Miller of Shamokin; Hope Furman and Mrs. Charles Mendenhall of Bloomsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Diehl of Pottsgrove; Thomas Beaver and family, and Mrs. Daniel Raker of Wasingtonville.
