John R. HARRIS. (Born May 15, 1863 in Scranton, PA) (Died Dec 30, 1946 in Windsor, NY).  Married Lucy Selma RANDOLPH (Born May 15, 1863 at Belvidere, NY) (Died Dec 2, 1948 at Windsor, NY) on Dec 3, 1884.  John lived in Susquehanna, PA at the time of his mother’s and father’s death.

Randolph V. HARRIS. Retired from the New York Electric and Gas System in Binghamton, NY in 1951. He died at the Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Reading, PA. on Sep 8, 1978.  Possibly married to Margaret ?.  He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Carbondale, PA, and the Masonic Order.

Daughter, Married J. Edward BURKHOLDER of Wyomissing, PA.

Frederick Twining HARRIS. ( Born May 19, 1889 in either Susquehanna, PA or Scranton, Lackawanna, PA) (Died Nov 16, 1976 at Somerville, NJ).  Married Elizabeth M. EVANS (Born Jun 28, 1896 at Danville, Montour, PA) (Died Nov 1, 1976 at Somerville, NJ) on Dec 25, 1920,  in Coshocton, OH. Elizabeth was the daughter of Carie EVANS. Frederick was a graduate from Bucknell University. At the time of his death, he as the Superintendent of the Ohio Electric Service Company in Coshocton, OH.

Robert HARRIS Sr. (Born Mar 8, 1873, in Scranton, PA) (died in July, 1927 at the age of 54 in Scranton, PA. as a result of being hit by a car) (Buried in the Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla, PA). The accident occurred on Jun 23, 1927.  Married to Sarah LEWIS  (born 1873) (died 1965) (buried in the Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla, PA)  He lived at 2202 Wyoming Avenue at the time of his death. Robert lived in Carbondale at the time of his mother’s and Father’s death. Robert was an engineer with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad at the time of his death. He was a member of the Irem Temple in Wilks-Barre, the Consistory n Scranton, Union Lodge of Masons, and the Green Ridge Baptist Church.

Robert HARRIS Jr. (born 1904) (died Abt. May, 1927) (buried in the Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla, PA)   Died two months before his father of spinal meningitis at Fort Slocum, NY.

Hannah HARRIS. (Born Jan 21, 1869 in Scranton, PA). (Died May 14, 1944 at 1129 Ruby Street, Philadelphia, PA.) (Buried May 17, 1944 in the Christ Church Episcopal Cemetery in Danville. Lot 36, NW section of the new part of the cemetery). Married to Arthur Beaver HUGHES. Hannah was a member of The Simpson Epworth League at the time of her marriage. David Robert HARRIS II. (born Jan 1, 1878) (Died Nov 14, 1923).  Married to Ida Lake ACE (born Sep 6, 1879, in Scranton, PA) (Died Apr 3, 1965 in Scranton, Lackawanna, PA) on Oct 19, 1899.  (The 1910 census shows that Ida’s father (William T. ACE was born in PA., and her mother (Susan LAKE) was born in NJ).  David lived in West Scranton at the time of his mother’s death. (1910 census indicates address as 1122 Swetland Street, near Evans Court)

(Died Apr 24, 1994 in Scranton, Lackawanna, PA) on May 26, 1938, in Scranton, Lackawanna, PA.    Fern's Father was John Chester MELVILLE (Born Mar 6, 1879) (Died Apr 24, 1949).  Her mother was Edna BLAIR (Born Nov 29, 1879) (Died Oct 3, 1955).  Fern was working at the West Side Hospital on Jackson Street in Scranton, PA at the time she applied for a Social Security Card in 1955.

Some Comments from Joyce Harris, Daughter of David R. Harris III. According to the stories I've been told (boy, I wish I paid more attention when my Dad was talking and how he would've loved to have heard me say that) when both my Mom and Dad applied for their Social Security (Dad in 1969 or so and my Mom in 1977) they each found out somehow that their birth year was wrong.  However, I don't know how factual it really was.  Anyway, Dad, (born 1904) and Mom, (born 1912) found out their birth years were 1903 and 1913 respectively.  But Dad said he wasn't going to change anything cause he worked a year too long and didn't want to have to pay back the government any more than he had to and when Mom found out she was a year younger, she also remained silent cause she didn't want to work the extra year or take a cut in her Social Security benefits. Now I'll tell you a little story.  When Paul and I were dating, some names both my family and his family were related to were the same.  Needless to say, I got a little nervous so I thought before our relationship went any further, I'd better find out if we were blood related.  My grandmother's brother married my mother-in-laws aunt.  So the connection was only through marriage.  WHEW!  And the rest, as they say, is history.   My mother's information was almost right.  About 15 years ago, I found out that the woman I called Nana and thought was my Mother's Mother was in actuality her step-mother.  Her biological mother, Jenny Parkman,  died when the youngest of her 6 children was only months old.  I think she died of rheumatic fever or something of that nature.  The children, listed in order of their age, from oldest to youngest, Howard, Clyde, Frances, Fern (my Mom), Elva and John Jr., were handed out to relatives until my Pop-Pop could provide a home for them.  That same year, my Pop-Pop remarried a woman from the Ohio area (I still don't know how they met), and with her, rounded up all his children, moved to Scranton and started a new life.  I have the utmost respect for her after hearing that story, a woman from a very comfortable life, from a very socially prominent family, who never married or had children of her own, to marry a man that had SIX children.
